After morning rounds, we waited for Izzy’s swallow study around 1 pm. She passed it with flying colors. This test was done in x-ray with me feeding her a bottle while radiology and speech examined how she did with her swallows. They were looking for complications such as food entering the lungs instead of the stomach, any signs of coughing or aspirating, and/or reflux. She didn’t show any!

The speech therapist said she will work with us inpatient and outpatient to get Izzy worked up to 100% bottle feeds and desired amounts.

Radiology placed Izzy’s new NJ tube for formula, and she is also starting additional nutrition through her PICC line.

Everything will be at Izzy’s tolerance and pace, and we will continue these IV & tube feedings for now to make sure she’s getting what she needs, but the doctors have decided that she *is* allowed to start taking 15 ml bottles every 4 hours!! 🙌🏼

1st one done!!
