I’ll show you the way out!” 👋🏼

1 year old update: No concerns! Follow up in October 😊

As 2021 comes to an end, Izzy continues to trend in the right direction!

Izzy has had 2 GI appointments since being discharged from Children’s on July 30th – one appointment at Rainbow Babies and one appointment at Akron Children’s. While deciding between the two hospitals, we ultimately went with Rainbow after meeting the gastroenterologist and felt very confident in his practice.

Our GI gave Izzy the go-ahead on stage 1 baby foods, which we began on November 10th, followed by rice cereal on November 16th. So far, Izzy has tried green beans, butternut squash, peas, sweet potatoes, apples, bananas, pears, carrots, and peaches. While we tried spoon feeding initially, that eating and swallowing process was very hard for Izzy to grasp. Instead, we are adding her foods and her rice cereal to her formula bottles. So far, so good. *She did get prescribed lactulose again to be used PRN/as needed for her constipation, but she’s been fine ever since she had a few doses in November.*

As of October 10th, Izzy’s reflux has miraculously vanished. After a tiring, emotional rollercoaster of projectile vomiting every single day, if not every single feed, from July through October, we are now at a point of no throwing up.

Last GI appointment of the year was November 15th. Next appointment will be in February.
